Frances M. Wood, Partner
Areas of Practice: Family Law, Civil Litigation, and Appeals
   Frances was called to the bar in 1998 after obtaining her law degree at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland and a further degree at the University of New Brunswick. Since 2000, Frances has practiced Family Law and Civil Litigation in the Region of Peel. Frances has appeared before all levels of court except the Supreme Court of Canada, and has conducted trials and appeals in both Family Law and Civil Litigation. Frances is a former President of the Peel Law Association, former Executive of the County and District Law Presidents Association and past Chair of LibraryCo. She is a member of the Advocates' Society, the Canadian Bar Association, the Peel Law Association and Mediators & Arbitrators of Peel. Frances sits as a Dispute Resolution Officer in the Region of Peel as well as a Deputy Judge of the Small Claims Court. When not pursuing her legal interests, Frances is a proud parent of two rambunctious children, a mentor with Women in Leadership foundation and an avid (if slow) runner.

Jennifer Gold, Partner
Areas of Practice: Family Law, Wills and Estates
   Jennifer obtained her B.A. Hons from York University and went on to study law at Osgoode Hall. After articling at a downtown law firm, she was called to the Bar in 2002. Since then, Jennifer has worked in the Region of Peel with her primary practice areas being Family Law, and Wills and Estates. Jennifer represents clients involved in litigation as well as in out of court negotiations. Jennifer is a long standing member of the Peel Law Association.

Vanassa S.N. Richards-Thompson, Associate
Areas of Practice: Family Law (including Collaborative Family Law), Mediation and Employment Law
   Vanassa obtained a B.A in History and English from the University of the West Indies, Jamaica and a LL.B. from the University of the West Indies, Barbados. She attended Jamaica's Norman Manley Law School and was called to the Jamaican Bar in 2001. Vanassa practiced as an Attorney-at-Law and Legal Officer to the Ministry of Labour and Social Security in Kingston, Jamaica before migrating to Canada. In Canada, Vanassa completed her re-qualifying examinations through the National Committee on Accreditation and undertook her Articles of Clerkship at Prouse, Dash & Crouch, LLP. Vanassa was called to the Canadian Bar in 2009. Vanassa has authored several articles and has been published in Jamaican and Canadian media. She has training in Mediation and is a lecturer, motivational speaker and poet. Vanassa joined Wood Gold in 2014 and practices in the areas of Family Law and Employment Law. She is a member of the Jamaican Bar Association, the Canadian Bar Association and the Ontario Bar Association.

Leah Simeone, Associate
Areas of Practice: Family Law, Collaborative Family Law, Civil Litigation/Small Claims, Wills.
  Leah graduated with a Honours degree in History from Queen's University before receiving her law degree from the University of Ottawa in 2011. When she was awarded her law degree, she was also granted the Social Justice Option and the Dean's Award for excellence. Leah then articled with the Ministry of the Attorney General until her call to the bar in June 2012. Leah serves on the Board of Directors for the Peel Law Association. Leah joined Wood Gold LLP in 2013, practicing primarily family law. Leah became certified to practice Collaborative Family Law in 2014. Leah looks forward to providing understanding legal guidance to her clients.

Margaret Teixeira, Associate
Areas of Practice: Family Law, Criminal law
   Margaret obtained her law degree at Thurgood Marshall School of Law in Houston, Texas. She received a number of awards, which include Torts I and II, Civil Procedure, Legal Research and Writing, Appellate Litigation, Commercial Law, Business Administration, and Trial Simulation. Prior to that, Margaret graduated with an Honours degree in Criminology and Employment Relations from University of Toronto. She completed her accreditation and articling, and was called to the bar in 2012. She practices primarily family law and criminal law, to which she conducted trials and bail hearings. Margaret joined Wood Gold LLP in 2015. She is a member of the Peel Law Association. Margaret is committed to helping others and looks forward to ensuring clients' needs are met, with a particular interest in resolving these needs using alternative dispute resolution methods such as negotiation, mediation and collaborative family law. Margaret will assess each client's needs and determine the appropriate means of resolution. A fun fact of Margaret's is that she speaks the ancient language of Aramaic.

Areesha Zubair, Associate
Areas of Practice: Family Law, Immigration Law and Civil Litigation
   Areesha obtained her J.D. from the University of Ottawa in 2012 and was called to the bar in 2013. While obtaining her law degree, Areesha was awarded the Richard Weiler Prize for Effective Mediation, and the Law Foundation of Ontario's grant for pursuing a career in public interest. Areesha joined Wood Gold in 2013, where she primarily practices family and immigration law. Outside of the office, Areesha likes to practice her puppetry skills with TAP, to spread awareness about disabilities amongst school children, volunteer with the Hearth and Stroke Foundation by presenting at South Asian community events about cardiovascular health, and work on her balance through yoga. Areesha is also a member of the Ontario Bar Association, Canadian Lawyers Abroad, Canadian Association of Refugee Lawyers and the Peel Law Association.

Clarissa Soriano, Associate
Areas of Practice: Family Law, Immigration Law, Wills
   Clarissa obtained her J.D. from the University of Ottawa in 2012 and was called to the Bar in 2013. During law school, she completed internships with Ontario legal aid clinics, the Supreme Court of Canada, and a full-service law firm abroad. Prior to law school, she has worked in Asia, Europe, and North America in various areas that cover international relations, trade, teaching, translation and community development. During her free time, Clarissa teaches French, provides translation services, and volunteers for non-profit organizations. Clarissa joined Wood Gold LLP in 2015 where she primarily practices Family Law, Immigration Law, and Wills. Fluent in Filipino/Tagalog and French, Clarissa is also a member of the Ontario Bar Association and the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers.
